Puffing Billy’s Toy Library has evolved into a community educational hub, hosting a milestone launch recently, with 17 organisations and 11 sponsors.
Volunteers have secured an expanded range of new toys, from wooden building blocks to programmable robots, microscopes and even party packs.
The day – on 21 April – was packed with local entertainment, stalls and gourmet food, offering something for everybody.
Macclesfield CFA brought a fire truck to the festivities, while Bendigo Bank provided the money for a petting zoo and pony rides.
Committee member Samantha Willis touted it as the biggest event the group has ever held.
“We offer not only toys, but a place to call a second home, a play centre for children to mingle and become leaders of their learning by selecting what they feel is important to them on that day,” she said.
“Come for a free tea and coffee, a chat to other like-minded mums and dads who encourage learning through play with their children.”
A raffle was also drawn, giving away prizes including a family pass to the Puffing Billy Railway.
The centre’s regular opening hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am until 11.30am.
It was made possible due to a donation by Fonterra.
