Gembrook volunteers have been celebrated for their efforts with a community dinner.

Organised and funded by the Gembrook Community Association, volunteers from 11 local groups were treated to a meal at Station House Pizzeria on Wednesday 18 May.

“We thought it was a nice opportunity to bring people together just to say thank you and acknowledge their hard work,” chair of the Gembrook Community Association Jacqueline Child said.

“We have such a small town so volunteers mean more than everything. We have a small pocket of volunteers who tend to be on every second committee.”

Representatives from Gembrook CFA, Gembrook Community Op Shop, Gembrook Community Group, Eastern Dandenong Ranges Association, Gembrook Football and Netball Club, Gembrook Craft Group, Gembrook Scouts, Friends of Gembrook Park, Parents and Friends of Gembrook Primary School, Gembrook Market Committee and Gembrook Seed Swap enjoyed a night of celebration.

The local dinner was organised during National Volunteers Week to celebrate Gembrook volunteers and recognise their contribution to the community.

The Gembrook Community Group hopes to organise more local events to bring locals together.
