At a bi-annual Rotary awards night, employees from Emerald and surrounding businesses have been recognised for their efforts.

The Pride of Workmanship Awards, held Tuesday 28 March by the Rotary Club of Emerald and District, was the first one since 2018 due to the impact of Covid-19.

The ceremony was held at the Puffing Billy Centre at Emerald Lake in Emerald, with additional support from the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Business and Tourism Association led by Lynne Trensky.

The Pride of Workmanship event recognises those in the business community who have demonstrated outstanding performance in the work they do in their local business roles with the underlying theme being ‘do it once – do it well’.

It enables employers to publicly recognise staff who display outstanding qualities in their role and encourages positive employer/employee relationships and a sense of community pride in individual achievement.

The winners were Kristine Ash (OrgMent Talent Solutions), Brittany Barry (Barry Plant), Kylie Brockwell (That’s Right Bookkeeping), Clare Camac (Commonwealth Bank of Australia), Luke DallaValle (Micawber Tavern), Pam Davies (Emerald Village Pharmacy), Elliot Dawson (Emerald Coop), Kerrie Eva (Emerald Primary School), Carolyn Fraser (Emerald Psychology), Barney Hogan (Auto Plus More), Tracey Marshall (Falcone and Adams), Holly Rasmussen (Ranges First National) and Izabela Stosegan (LifeView).

The event was attended by around 90 people and the feedback from attendees indicated it was an overwhelming success.

Barney Hogan of Auto Plus More received a special mention as he was actually nominated by one of his employees because he had “truly stood out above all others and shown what a good employer really is”.

It was particularly significant since Barney was a strong supporter and participant in the Rotary Club’s Covid-19 Voucher Scheme allowing people to use the vouchers for fuel and he is the son of the late Kevin Hogan who was a local identity and charter member of the Rotary Club of Emerald and District which was also celebrating its 43rd anniversary on the very same evening.
