Knox City Council is reminding people the My Energy and Water Saver kits can help reduce electricity and water costs.

Kits are available for loan through the Your Library network.

The kits are designed to help households identify causes of high electricity and water usages, such as water leakages, inefficient fixtures, and usage behaviours.

With this information, people are able to make improvements to improve energy efficiency at home.

Each kit consists of the following resources:

thermal imaging camera

power meter

stopwatch

thermometer

CSIRO Home Energy Saving Handbook

instruction guide

The kits come with a step-by-step instructional guide on how to use the various equipment to measure electricity and water usage.

A total of 12 kits are available for loan. In the past six months, they have been loaned over 70 times.

The kits were launched in 2022 by a joint partnership between Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges Councils.

Knox households account for 18 per cet of total greenhouse emissions in our community. This initiative is supported by our Climate Response Plan 2021-2031, which aims to help the community lower emissions and reach net zero by 2040.

People are able to place a reservation to loan a kit at the Your Library website.
