Boy riding bike dies after collision with car

A young boy has died after being hit by a car in Knoxfield on Monday night.

It’s believed a teenage boy riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Ferntree Gully Road just before 8.30pm.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was not injured, nor was her passenger.

The 15-year-old Ferntree Gully boy was taken to hospital but has since died.

The female driver of the vehicle has been interviewed by police and released pending-further enquiries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and it will be investigated by Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives.
