Free Flu Vaccines Roll out for April

The year has rolled on and flu season is fast approaching, with vaccinations soon to be available for free for eligible parties in the Knox area.

Starting from April, Knox council will be providing free flu vaccines to eligible people, including young children and seniors.

Protect your family this winter and book a flu vaccine, many people are eligible for vaccine and include, children from 6 months old to under 5 years, seniors aged 65 years or older. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, pregnant women and people (at least 6 months old) with medical conditions that may increase the risk of flu complications (eg severe asthma, low immunity)

Residents may need to provide evidence to receive the free flu vaccination at Council and the health services team will advise people of this before their appointment.

If people are not eligible for the free flu vaccine, the Knox fee is $33 and bookings can be made online.

Children under nine receiving the flu vaccine for the first time need two doses, at least four weeks apart.

Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised that you can have the flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccine on the same day.
