STUDENTS at Mountain District Christian School enjoyed a fun filled introduction to Book Week.
Characters from children’s books appeared in a spontaneous pantomime to excite primary students about the wonders of books and the joy of reading.
Alice in Wonderland, the Cat in the Hat, a Pirate Who Wouldn’t Wash, A Friendly Bear and, everyone’s favourite, the White Rabbit, appeared together to entertain the primary students.
The pantomime story involved children helping the characters re-open the world’s last bookshop, which had sadly closed because children were no longer reading books. After much laughter and entertainment, the primary students all promised to continue reading, and the bookshop was declared re-opened! The week of celebration closed on Friday with a grand finale assembly.
