Electronic waste gets the elbow

People are encouraged to recycle their unwanted electronics.

Put old electronics to good use by recycling them at the Cardinia Shire Council’s eWaste event this Saturday.
Unwanted electronic items such as computers, televisions, vacuum cleaners and appliances can be dropped off at the Gemco Players Community Group in Emerald.
The council, in conjunction with Outlook Environmental, will recycle the items.
Approximately 95 per cent of the materials can be recovered during this process.
Recycling computers is particularly important as they contain toxic chemicals that may poison the environment if included in landfills.
White goods are not eligible at this event but will be recycled if placed out for hard rubbish collection.
The event will take place at 19 Kilvington Drive, Emerald, from 9am to 1pm on Saturday 10 August.
