Hit-run arrest

MAJOR Collision Investigation Unit detectives this morning arrested a 60-year-old Croydon man in relation to the alleged fatal hit-run of an elderly man in Mt Evelyn last year. The arrest relates to the death of 80-year-old local sporting identity Thomas Kelly, who was found deceased by a passerby on Birmingham Road about 7.30am on Sunday 15 September. The man has since been released pending further enquiries. Detectives are still appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Detectives would particularly like to speak to the driver of a car who stopped or slowed behind a gold-coloured sedan on Birmingham Road around 7pm on Saturday 14 September.
