Country music show
The Upwey Country Music Club is presenting a Walk Up – Open Mic concert, on Sunday 7 June from 1-5pm at the Guides Hall in Underwood Road, Ferntree Gully.
Artists perform songs in the country, bluegrass and folk genres.
All welcome. New singers, musicians and bands are always welcome.
A band or musician are available to back singers, if required. Just bring music along.
There is a small entrance charge of $7 ($5 for members) to help cover costs.
The club runs regular concerts on the first Sunday of each month at the Guides Hall. Inquiries to Graham on 5964 8298.

Suicide prevention session
A free information to learn how to recognise indicators that might suggest someone is considering suicide and how to have a conversation with them about it.
The session will also include a list of resources and support to help keep the person safe.
Held on Wednesday, 27 May from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Emerald Community House Hall. For more information call 5968 3881.

Social media workshop
Emerald Community House is taking registrations for Let’s Get Social. Social media is a must for today’s organisations.
This popular course introduce a low-risk, gradual approach to social media from no exposure to complete immersion, helping to develop, implement and measure the next steps. For more information phone 5968 3881.

Art exhibition
The Ferntree Gully Art Society will be showing an exhibition titled Words and Images at The Hut Gallery, Ferntree Gully.
These are works done in numerous mediums using poetry as inspiration.
Many of the poems are by members of the poetry group, which also meet at the Hut.
The exhibition runs from 17 to 31 May. Gallery opening hours are 11am to 4pm on Sundays. Entry is free.

TOWN club
The Maroondah TOWN club (Take off Weight Naturally) meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm at St Margaret’s Uniting Church, Hull Road, Mooroolbark.

Seniors meeting
The next meeting of the Knox Branch of National Seniors will be held at the Knox Club on 27 May.
Doors open at 10.15am for a 10.30pm start.
The Knox Club is situated at the corner of Stud and Boronia roads, Wantirna. Join for the meeting/social time and enjoy guest speakers John and Isabelle Mentha speaking about the history of modern magic.

Red Cross is urging anyone who needs to make or update their will to mark October in their calendar.
The Red Cross is bringing its highly successful Wills for Life program to the City of Knox.

Men’s Shed
Community Men’s Sheds are a relatively new concept however, they are based on the backyard shed, which has been a long established part of Australian culture.
These new sheds are open to men of all ages, from all walks of life.
The Monbulk District Men’s Shed opened in 2012 and is inviting new members to join.

Children’s writer’s festival
David Walliams and Andy Griffiths headline Stories Up High, the Yarra Ranges Children’s Writers Festival.
The event is held next month at iconic venues throughout the Dandenong and Yarra Ranges from 8 May to 23 May.
